Hi, I'm Eli

My mission is to create a healthy home for my family and to help you do the same.

This is the windy road I took to reach this simple realization: I am a designer by trade. At 21 (that is when we start higher education where I live, after national service/ army service) I thought I wanted to be a fashion designer. Thinking back I know that I was drawn to the hands-on, independent work and also to the self-reliance aspect. In my third year in design school, I spent a semester in San Francisco College of Art and Design and attended a course named: Fashion for Sustainability, with Lynda Gross. I was blown away by what I learned. For example 1/3 of a pound of pesticides used to grow enough cotton for one T-shirt?! (That was in 2007, I don’t know the stats today) After creating “sustainable design” for a couple of exhibits I returned to my school to start my fourth and final year. I was really was no longer interested in perusing this profession. Luckily I was able to spend the year weaving basket-like statues in public parks and graduated with honors for my project “walking distance”.

I began to work at educational eco-farm teaching kids (and myself) how to garden, compost, build soil, recycle, reuse, cook, and make fires. I learned a lot while working on the farm. Here was where I attended my first permaculture course, with a wonderful teacher Talya Shneider. I have since attended Geoff Lawton’s permaculture course with Ahuvi (My love).

Ahuvi and I started a family in 2012, first, we adopted a Doberman (Zeek) and next we had a daughter (Tamara), and two years later a son (Carmi). I`ve been a full-time mom ever since. Doing my very best to keep them healthy in body and mind in this crazy new world.

While pregnant with my eldest I stood in my kitchen and concocted a healing balm for my unborn baby. It was so simple and so gratifying to put healthy local nourishing ingredients together and create a healing balm. I was hooked!

Ester, the wise woman who gave me the first taste of this world taught me that becoming healthier, in both body and mind, is a twofold process. She used this verse to sum it up: “Depart from evil and do good” Psalms 34:14. First, she taught to get rid of products and behaviors that are harmful, and next embrace those that nourish, enhance, and allow oneself to grow and become healthier. The more time goes by the more applicable I find that teaching.

So join me, let’s get rid of the bad, embrace the good and create healthier homes for our families.
