Dry Hands SOS

Writer's picture: info3435807info3435807

The other day I was stroking my daughter on the cheek and her reaction was: “Stop mommy! You’re scratching me…”. Did that ever happen to you? That your hands get so dry they feel like sandpaper?

For such a rough situation I had to pull out the big guns: olive oil, shea butter and vitamin E.

There are all very nourishing for dry skin.

  • Olive oil: A heavy and fragrant oil. Rich in antioxidants and unsaturated fatty acids that nourish the skin, and have a mild anti-aging effect.

  • Shea butter: A hypoallergenic butter made from the African Krite nut. Very rich and nourishing for the skin. Rich in a variety of fatty acids including Linoleic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid and palmitic acid.

  • Vitamin E oil: Thick and pasty liquid that dissolved in oil. Heals skin tissue and is a quality anti aging agent as well as scar management.

This wonderfully rich balm smooths the skin and does not feel sticky or oily, thanks to the shea butter. I keep a jar next to the sink and apply after I wash my hands to keep the moisture in.

For acute situations apply before bed and put on a pair of gloves. You will be amazed by the results in the morning.

Ingredients:

100 grams shea butter

50 grams olive oil

20 drops vitamin E oil (optional)

10 drops essential oils (lavender, geranium, eucalyptus)

Instructions:

Place all measured ingredients in an immersion blender container and blend together.

Pour into clean jars. The balm will harden a little as the blending warms it a little.

Use and enjoy!
