Turmeric tea, golden milk

Does your body have a weak spot? The spot that gets inflamed when you haven’t been taking such good care of yourself?

Whenever I don’t get enough sleep, or when I’m especially stressed out, or haven’t been eating well, I get mastitis (of course only when I’m lactating, which has been for 5 out of the past six years…). So last week I got it again. I usually kick it within a day taking a mix of turmeric and honey every two hours, taking an echinacea tincture and massaging the inflamed spot with garlic olive oil with a lavender and tea tree essential oil synergy. This time, however, took a little longer and I was looking for more ways of consuming turmeric.

Why turmeric?

In this case, I was taking turmeric for its strong Anti-inflammatory qualities. Turmeric can be taken internally and used topically for its anti-inflammatory benefits. In addition, turmeric has a broad beneficial effect on immune function. Which was also very helpful in my situation. Like all strong colored foods, turmeric is a powerful antioxidant, helping relieve the stress in the body from free radicals. Turmeric has been proven to calm intestinal inflammation and support digestion. An active compound in turmeric, Curcumin, is believed to stop an enzyme that may be responsible for turning toxins into carcinogens in the human body. Which makes it sensible to use turmeric on a regular basis and not only in acute situations.

A friend sent me this recipe for golden milk or turmeric tea to help me boost the immune system. It is recommended to drink this in the evening as the immune system is most active when we are sleeping. The turmeric is mixed with a pinch of black pepper and fats (coconut oil and milk) to enhance its absorption.

Golden tea mix: * ¼ cup turmeric powder * ½ Tsp black pepper * ½ cup of water * 3 tbsp coconut oil Mix together in a saucepan until you get to a paste consistency. Pour into a jar and store in the fridge. If part of the oil separates and hardens on the top brake it up and mix it into the mixture.

To make tea: Take a spoonful of the mixture above and some sweeter (if desired) in a mug. Pour boiling water into the mug and mix well. Add a ¼ cup of coconut milk or cream and enjoy!

Do you use turmeric in any way? Pls share in the comments.
